My Macaroni Family Bucket List

By Jennifer Gottschalk, New Braunfels Macaroni Kid August 27, 2014

Can y’all believe it’s August?! That means summer is almost ending – thank goodness we’ve only just hit 100 degrees! Personally, I can’t believe school will be starting up again in just a few weeks. It seems like just yesterday that we were making our Summer Bucket List in my family. It’s a fun little ‘tradition’ that we started last year, and I’ve enjoyed it more and more as my oldest really starts to understand the point …. SUMMER TIME FUN!

We live in such a great place for summer time fun, and I wanted to make sure we didn’t miss out on any of it. We did opt out of Schlitterbahn passes this summer because I thought it would be too tough to balance chasing the one-year-old and keeping up with what the four-year –old wants to do. I’m not a pro like I know some of you are! In any case, we have had a lot of fun, and we still have a few items left to check off. See our list below and let us know what’s on your list!!

Please keep in mind … these ideas were compiled by the whole family. It really amazed me and grounded me as I was adding “big ticket” ideas that my mini-Macaroni just wanted to pick flowers. I love kids can remind us to just revel in the joy of simplicity.

1.       Snow Cones at The Gourmet Ice Company

2.       Go to the Beach! Build Sand Castles! (My daughter added – and fill up the bucket with sand!)

3.       Have a picnic

4.       Go on a long walk

5.       Special lunch date at Sertino’s Café. Grilled cheese followed by a scoop of Blue Bell!

6.       Pick flowers

7.       Make muffins & cookies

8.       Go watch BOATS (which we like to do from the patio at Schobel’s Restaurant)

9.       Ice Cream at Baby Cake Truffles. Can we just say … hand dipped salted caramel ice cream from Fredicksburg?! YUMMY!

10.   Fun Day Trip. (We ventured up to The Thinkery in Austin … so much fun!)

11.   Landa Park Spring Fed Pool … it’s recently been compared to Barton Springs.

We’re still working on checking off some of these, but it’s been a great summer so far! Tell us what’s on your list! And, don’t forget to follow us on Pinterest (nbmackid). We have these ideas and so much more pinned and waiting for you.
