Up All Night

Have these crazy Texas allergies affected your family like they’ve been affecting mine? I sure hope not! It’s one thing for me to feel under the weather, but now it’s also taking the toll on my sweet mini-macaroni … and it has all culminated in a double ear infection for her (and no sleep for me or my husband!).

To that end, I’m still getting caught up on events this week. There are a few that I’ll be adding to the Mac Kid calendar later this ...


Kindermusik with Rishanne ...

Miss Rishanne started out as a Kindermusik Mommy, who like so many of you fell in love with Miss Kat and Kindermusik.  After seeing the amazing impact Kindermusik had on both myself and my son, Rylan,  I could not bear to see Kindermusik leave New Braunfels.  After much encouragement and help from Miss Kat I opened my studio in the fall of 2011.

The Buddies Are Back!

January 31st!

Disney’s talking canine superstars are back in “Treasure Buddies,” their 6th all-new adventure. This latest story is told from the perspective of the Buddies’ newest friend, a mischievous Egyptian monkey named Babi. As Babi tells us, more than 40 years ago, a young archeologist named Thomas Howard, travelled to Egypt with his dog Digger to search for the lost necklace of Cleocatra. Floating Popcorn Kernels-Science

Demonstrate buoyancy and chemical reactions

Show your kids some science with items you probably have right now. 

What you need:

§  A clear, tall container

§  3 cups of water--You can see in the video that I did not measure anything

§  1/4 to 1/3 cup of baking soda

§  1/8 cup of unpopped popcorn kernels

§  1/4 to 1/2 cup of white vinegar

 What you do:

1.    Mix baking soda and water in the clear container

2.    Add corn kernels

3.    Pour in vinegar--do this part in or near the sink. I'm surprised ...

Friday, February 10 through Friday, February 10 - Friday Night Fun/Parent's Night Out

A 3 1/2 hour high energy playtime in the gym.  A mixture of open play and structured games keeps kids excited.  A light snack is provided.  Our staff closely supervises and directs this event to ensure safety and lots of good times.

When: 7:30 PM - 11:00 PM (2nd Friday of the month)
Who: This event is open to all children ages 5-11.

Saturday, February 25 through Saturday, February 25 - HeartChase - American Heart Association

Checkpoints will take you to several points downtown, teams will solve clues, accumulate points and search for clues to compete and become HeartChase winners. Text updates will let teams know who’s in the lead, their current point totals, how much time is left in the chase and provide healthy tips. . The checkpoints are silly, fun and teach something important. This event will educate residents of New Braunfels and arm them in the fight against our number one killer, heart disease.
Where: Kick off at New Braunfit Gym
When: 9:00 AM - 11:30 AM (Check in at 8:00 am)
Who: This family-oriented race is similar to “The Amazing Race meets “Minute to Win It.” We will kick the event off at the New Braunfit gym and give teams of 2-5 people clues to find the various 12 checkpoints throughout the city. We will have co-worker teams, student teams, families, etc. Anyone can participate in this foot-based race.
